Another tragedy. Dozens of lives lost due to hearts being filled with violence. Or as the Bible, says, “Living in the flesh” (Romans 8).

We are predominately living by faith or we are predominately living in the flesh. Living by faith can be defined as living unto God, which expresses an accountability to Him, His Word, and the Body of Christ. Living by faith has a distinct culture that is centered on pleasing the Lord. Whereas the culture of living in the flesh distinguishes itself by aligning itself with Me, Myself, and I. In short, whatever “pleases” me.

Hence, we are all born naturally to live in the flesh. We inherit this from our forefather Adam. Indeed, all of the problems we face in this world are a direct result of us living in the flesh. Whether it be racism, bitterness because of racism, unforgiveness, immorality, vengefulness, violence, dishonor, envy, jealousy, pride, and etc. All of this is flesh (i.e. sinful nature).

By taking this into account, how glorious is the command, “Deny yourself and take up your cross and follow me” (Matt. 16:24).

Jesus understood the deadly disease of the flesh. The only solution he proposed and commanded was crucifixion and following Him. In short, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no other solution.

When one hears the Gospel preached and receives, he or she is in position to be supernaturally changed. How so? God prophetically promised that those who receive the Spirit of God (by submitting to His Son, Jesus) will have the power to die to self and live Him. Read a few of the promises:

”I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statues and be careful to obey my rules” (Eze. 36:27)

“Jesus said, Truly, truly I say to you unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he can not enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh but that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”. (John 3:5-6)

If we believe we have greater wisdom than God Almighty in solving the issues that plague our humanity, we are suggesting we know more than Him. And if that is the case, it can be rightly said, “We are fools”.

Do not be a fool.
