You may be asking the question does God exist? How can we know for sure? Short answer, Jesus Christ while coming in the form of man was fully God (Philippians 2:6-7). You may say, “I don’t believe that.” Let me give you just 10 facts to consider (there are so many more).
1. Jesus’ coming was not an afterthought, it was planned. Paul states, “He saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus BEFORE the ages began” (2 Tim. 1:9).
2. Isaiah prophesied 700 years before Christ came that he would be birthed through a virgin. (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23)
3. He also prophesied that this baby would be no ordinary baby. He stated He would be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isa. 9:6)
4. Isaiah also prophesied in detail that Jesus was going to go to the cross on our behalf and would die for our sins. That’s right, 700 years before Christ even stepped on the scene! Read Isaiah 53.
5. Nearly 1,000 years before the coming of Christ, David, provides details of how the Messiah was going to die (Psalms 22:1, 16-18; Matt. 27:35, 46).
6. Jesus claimed that He was fulfilling Scripture and was indeed God. But how can we know His claim is true?
7. While standing before the chief priest during His trial, he was asked, “Was He the Christ, the Son of God. He stated, “You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” This very statement comes out of Daniel 7:13. In short, Jesus was claiming to be God and fulfilling this Messianic prophecy. The high priest was so angry at this statement he tore his garments and sentenced Jesus to death for blasphemy (Matt. 26:63-66).
8. Jesus Himself prophesied during His ministry, that He would be handed over to the chief priests, gentiles and would be killed but would rise from the dead three days later (Matt. 20:17-19).
9. Jesus rose from the dead which proved that all the prophecies were true and He was who He claimed to be, God, the Son of God (equal in nature to the Father, divine) (Matt. 28).
10. Matthew shares the story that the chief priests made up to explain why Jesus tomb was empty and states, “And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.” Matthew did not write his gospel till about 20-25 years after the resurrection, meaning, the tomb had been empty for at least 20 years.
You see, Jesus was and is a unique Person in human history. As C.S. Lewis stated, “He is either Liar, Lunatic, or the Lord”. He can’t be a good teacher or a good man because He claimed to be God. What good teacher or man would make such a radical claim to be God?
What/Who are you trusting in? What evidence do you have to back up your claims?
Jesus is Lord and He can become your God, Savior, and Father through repentance of your sin and trusting Him as your Lord.
