Do you know people that seem to be always angry, bitter, or insolent? No matter what you do to try to uplift their spirit, they remain in a downtrodden state?

People who fall into this condition, do not wake up one day and say, “I want to be an angry, bitter, or a hateful person.” Indeed, most people who succumb to this state do not believe they are in this state. However, everyone who falls into this condition chooses to be there.

Initially, they may have been hurt by another person legitimately or not. I say, “or not” because there are times when people can believe false narratives created in their own minds and actually believe that it is true. In any case, when we are hurt by another it is natural to feel emotional pain. However, if you “choose” to hold onto that hurt–by default you will become an angry, bitter, or hateful person. This is one of the reasons why the Bible admonishes us to,

“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:26-27)

When we hold onto our anger or hurt, we will open the door to demonic powers to enslave us in our anger, bitterness, insolence, or etc. As being involved in deliverance ministry, when demonic oppression moves in–it is doubly hard to break free from their snares and to be delivered.
So let’s do ourselves a favor–forgive as quickly as possible. And “choose” the joy of the Lord daily; regardless of how our emotions may try to sway us.

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)
