How many of us can agree with the logic: If one is a glutton (overeats) he/she is susceptible to various health problems (high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, etc)? Then why can’t we use the same logic when it comes to understand our fallen nature? If we constantly consume profanity, violence, immorality, pornography, etc it will lead to chaotic communities and society at large.

Our nature is already rebellious (evil) (Matt. 4:11). Case and point, if any of you have young children, let me ask, have you ever taught them how to lie? Steal? Be mean to other children? Of course not, they learn it on their own. This points to our fallen nature. We naturally want to do evil (Rom. 3:10-18).

Now what happens when that behavior goes unchecked and then assisted by consuming content that stirs the fallen nature? For instance, if one sits around consuming pornography or lustful materials, he or she may potentially become an all out pervert. If one sits around and plays violent video games 12 hours a day, he or she may be susceptible to murdering someone (due to becoming desensitized to violence). If one sits around and listens to violent and profane music they run the chance of becoming violent and disrespectful persons. Our sinful nature is evil in and of itself. However, when we consume  wickedness from our environment , our flesh is evil on steroids! You get my drift?

The Bible is the one book that has testified that the problem with man is man. Either we do not believe the seriousness of our problem or we choose not to deal with it and carelessly enjoy our evil desires.

Jesus is the answer. His truth. His Word. His Spirit. If we continually ignore Him and His appeal to die to the flesh, we will be the cause of our own destruction.
